Hi there. My name is Nic Lake. Please don’t call me Mr. Lake, that’s my dad.
I am currently a student at the University of Northern Iowa, studying Management Information Systems and expecting to graduate in the spring of 2012. I’ve also dabbled in the areas of music education, computer science, religion and graphic design. Settling down in the school of business was one of the best things I could’ve done with my life.
I’m a guy of varied interests. I’ve been an accomplished musician since age 4, playing piano, percussion, bass, and guitar. Injuries hampered my career, but I still continue to shred on the 6-string to this day. I can sing too, but it’s extremely rare that I do that in public. I’m an eclectic musician, and play/listen to everything from classical, blues and jazz up through rock, metal and screamo.
I’m also a minor art nut. I can’t draw, paint, or shape things to save my life, but I’ve been known to take a mean photograph or two, and graphic design is slowly becoming an ebbing passion of mien. I feel that my artistry and music go hand in hand. I can “see” music as a color spectrum, one that ebbs and flows as people perform.
While I’m not the most gifted athlete in the world, I still have an itch that can only be scratched by sports. I love my Red Sox, Vikings & Colts, Celtics, Iowa Hawkeyes and Northern Iowa Panthers. I can appreciate any other team, except for the Yankees. If you’re a fan of the Bombers, you should just leave now.
My faith in God is also extremely important to me. I’ve spent the better part of a decade giving back to the churches in my community by leading worship through music and the technical arts. I wear a cross and a WWJD bracelet daily, not so much as a way of displaying my faith publicly, but instead to remind me that I’m imperfect and to help me make the best possible decisions for my life.
I love technology. I’m a staunch Apple supporter. I enjoy mochas and off-brand Arnold Palmers, TOMS shoes and Moleskine notebooks. I’m an ENFP. I’m extremely impulsive, and bad with money, which is a very dangerous combination. Sarcasm is my native language. Writing is therapy for me. I have a strong passion for quality conversations and the well-being of those I care about. I’m extremely outgoing, until you get me around cute females that I am interested in. Go go gadget shyness?
The things posted within this site are first and foremost the opinions of myself. I leave comments enabled because I enjoy hearing what you have to say about the topics I post, and I’m fine with a disagreement or a good natured argument. I just have one rule: don’t be a douche. I’m the only one that gets to do that here.

“I was always an “on-the-go” kid when I was younger, hoping to be the next 3rd baseman for the Red Sox, or that clutch 3-point shooter for the Lakers.”
The Red Sox & the Lakers? In the same sentence!! Ouch. Celtic fans know better

Haha I know. Like I said, when I was younger. Boston has my heart now… except for football. Vikes and Colts.
